Around 50 delegates from throughout Scotland, comprising large and small manufacturers, downstream users and formulators, attended a REACH & CLP event hosted by INEOS at their Grangemouth complex, on 15th May 2012. The event organised jointly by Scottish Enterprise and The REACH Centre Ltd provided an excellent opportunity for businesses to get updated on developments in chemical regulation in Europe.
Topics discussed included the challenges facing businesses needing to meet next years REACH registration deadline, the impact of the CLP regulation and the increasing burden on downstream users in respect of action over SDSs and management of SVHC's.
Sandra Meijer, Head of Supply Chain Services at The REACH Centre, introduced chemtrac®, an online database containing essential information on thousands of chemicals of concern. chemtrac® has been developed by The REACH Centre in collaboration with major manufacturers, to support industry with their chemicals management and product stewardship. The live demo, which generated a lot of interest, showed the audience how the software can be used to track chemicals of concern and their regulatory status, manage your company-specific lists and information, anticipate future issues and minimise business risk.
